It's out today

Every year Esquire comes out with a magazine called "Big Black Book". It has great tips and tricks for the latest styles, fashions, etc. This year they are coming out with 2, One for the Spring and Summer, and the fall one will be coming out in October. I pre-ordered mine, so I should be getting it soon, but you can pick up a copy at any bookstore. Hope you enjoy it.

What is the process for a custom suit?

This is probably one of the most commonly asked questions. Usually the process is to choose a fabric, select a style, get measured up, and then get fitted a few times. The most important part of getting a suit custom made is making sure the fit is perfect. So that's why we take numerous amounts of measurements to ensure the suit fits.

The other day Jesse Chao, lead designer for the Vittorio J neck line came in to the studio, took some pictures for me, of a couple clients being fitted for custom suits

Chest Measurement: To measure the chest, I measure the fullest pert of the chest, it is generally right under the arm pits, and the tape measure should cover your your shoulder blades around your back

Girth Measurement: Once again, measure the fullest part of the stomach

Waist Measurement: This is an important measurement not only for pants but also the jacket, you want to measure where the person is typically going to wear their pants

Hip Measurements: This is another multi purpose measurement for trousers as well as the jacket. Make sure the persons legs are together and have their arms up, and measure the fullest part of the seat

Sleeve Measurement: This is measured from the top of the shoulder to the preferred point of the wrist. Generally people like to show about 1/4 inch to 1/2 worth of shirt cuff showing

Inseam Measurement: This is one of the measurements that establishes on how long the pants should be. You should measure from the crotch on the inside of the leg down to your foot

Out seam Measurement: This is another measurement that determines the length of the pants

These are just a few measurements needed to be taken for a custom suit, for additional pictures please click on the links below.

World's Best Dressed Man

Okay, so we all think we're great dressers and if there was a competition we all think we may make it in at least the top 10. Well Esquire does a competition every year to see who really is the best dressed man.

Prince Charles wins it for 2009. Known for his double breasted peak lapel suits. He's always had a great sense of style and taste. (but with a cash flow like his, you wouldn't expect anything less)
